Familiar voice returns to sing national anthem at AFC Championship Game
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Retired United States Navy Petty Officer First Class Generald Wilson will be back at Arrowhead on Sunday to sing the national anthem.
Wilson is well-known for lending his golden tones to kick off major sporting events.
He was good luck for the Chiefs in January 2023, when he sang before the Chiefs AFC Championship Game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Chiefs won that game, and went on to win the Super Bowl.
Wilson announced he got the call in a social media post, saying, “Y’all already know how much I love The Chiefs, so you can imagine how I’m feeling right now.”
Wilson is a Kinloch, Missouri, native and performed the anthem multiple times when the Kansas City Royals made back-to-back World Series appearances in 2014 and 2015.
Wilson was honored with his own bobblehead by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum in 2023.
