Driver taken to hospital after crash along rural Missouri highway
SMITHTON, Mo. (KCTV) - One driver was taken to a nearby hospital after a 2-vehicle collision along a rural Missouri highway caused her SUV to hit a snowbank and flip over.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol indicates that just after 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, emergency crews were called to the area of Highway 50 at Highway W, north of Smithton, with reports of a 2-vehicle collision.
When first responders arrived, they said they found a 70-year-old Warsaw woman failed to stop her 2013 Jeep Compas at the stop sign and pulled out in front of a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 40-year-old Lincoln woman.
Investigators noted that the Grand Cherokee hit the right side of the Com which caused the Com to veer off the right side of the highway and hit a snowbank where it overturned.
The 70-year-old driver was taken to Bothwell Regional Health Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The 40-year-old driver sustained minor injuries and sought treatment on her own.
Law enforcement officials noted that both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. Both vehicles were also totaled as a result. No further information has been released.
