Nashville artist brings Kansas City-themed songs to Red Kingdom Rally
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Blane Howard lives in Nashville, Tennessee but his heart is in Kansas City watching for key moments to turn into fun parody songs for the fans.
Some of Howard’s most popular Chiefs-themed songs include “Run it Back” and “How Bout Those Chiefs” which can be heard in hype videos and even inside Union Station.
On Saturday night, Howard headed to Harrah’s Kansas City Hotel and Casino to play some of his original songs along with various parody songs he’s released on his social media s for the Red Kingdom Rally.
Harrah’s Kansas City was packed with people preparing for Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against the Buffalo Bills.
“Playing the parodies and stuff is always fun because it’s not something I do for my normal shows,” said Howard. “Whenever we’re in town, changing them up is always a lot of fun.”
Writing songs is not new for Howard who is a recording artist but the parody songs were creatively crafted starting a few years ago.
It’s transcended across fan bases and his popularity has grown for every song he releases online.
“I try to pick something that works well with either the game we just played or the team that’s coming up. Sometimes things happen in the game or the previous week that work well to kind of work in the song.”
It started off as just a way for him to make more friends at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium tailgates.
“Seeing the fan’s reaction is by far the best part,” he said. Being able to play events like this, I’ve played events for the season-ticket at Arrowhead Stadium in the past like for the draft parties and things like that.”
He used to release a parody song in previous years for just the Chiefs playoff runs which, as we all know, ended at the Super Bowl. This year he took it to another level and released a song every week.
He expects a close game on Sunday but believes in his Chiefs to get the job done one way or another.
“If the Chiefs win and we’re headed to another Super Bowl, you can look for a lot more videos on my social media pages,” he said. “I will have a reaction video coming up Monday or Tuesday as well as a couple of videos leading up to the Super Bowl.”
All the while, he’s working on new original music as well.
It’s been a busy NFL season for him but the fans showed why he does it on Saturday night.
Several former Chiefs players, Dante Hall, Dwayne Bowe, Anthony Sherman, and Dezman Moses to name a few, were in attendance to celebrate with fans. All of them went on the stage to share a message and most of them ended with a loud, “How bout those Chiefs” response from the crowd.
Bowe engaged with people while sitting on the stage during Howard’s performance, g autographs, taking pictures, and sharing good vibes.
Bowe signed his autograph on the back of Howard’s guitar as well during a break between songs.
All soaked in the moments of fun and singing together because, for a long time, those kinds of things were not happening in the city. The Chiefs struggled to compete during the regular season and in the playoffs for years but now they are the team to beat.

Howard thinks that’s a reason his fans are receptive to his parody songs and sharing them online more and more.
“It’s been amazing to see the transformation of all that and I feel like Chiefs fans really appreciate it more because of the heartache that we went through for so many years.”
