Former Coca-Cola model celebrates 100th birthday

ATLANTA, Ga. (WANF/Gray News) – A woman in Georgia whose long life has included working as a model for Coca-Cola in the 1940s will celebrate a milestone birthday this week.

Historic Roswell Place, an assisted living and memory care facility, said they’ll celebrate resident Patricia Jandel’s 100th birthday with cake and entertainment on Thursday, Jan. 30.

Born in River Forest, Illinois, Jandel “has led a life filled with style, grace, and creativity,” the facility said.

In the 1940s, Jandel worked as a stylist and model at the famed Chicago advertising agency Kling Studio – located in the same space that later housed Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Studios – where she posed as a model in ments for the Atlanta-based Coca-Cola Company and the Tucker automobile.

“Pat has always embraced an active and fulfilling lifestyle,” Historic Roswell Place said. “She was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing Bingo, loved horse races and music, and was ionate about painting. Her creativity also extended to writing—she took writing classes for 10 years.”

Jandel was married to her husband, Walfred, for 44 years before his ing. They built a loving family that includes five children, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

When asked about her secret to longevity, Jandel shared that it’s simply “a happy home life,” Historic Roswell Place said.

“Reflecting on her remarkable 100 years, she named radios, telephones, cars, and TVs as the greatest technological advancements that have shaped her life,” said the assisted living facility, where Jandel became a resident in December 2019.

“Ms. Jandel is proof that style and grace only get better with time,” Saron Coney, executive director of Historic Roswell Place, said in a statement. “We’re beyond excited to celebrate this milestone with her and hope the community will us in honoring a century of her fabulous journey.”
