Andy Reid avoiding three-peat talk ahead of Super Bowl
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - By now, football fans know the Chiefs are chasing NFL history. No team has ever won three Super Bowls in a row, but head coach Andy Reid says he doesn’t talk to the team about a chance at a three-peat.
“I don’t use that. I don’t get into that with the guys,” Reid told reporters on Thursday when asked about the chance of winning three Super Bowls in a row. “I just want to make sure we get prepped.”
The team worked out indoors Thursday, installing their game plan for Super Bowl LIX, a rematch with the Philadelphia Eagles from the big game two years prior. Reid says the Chiefs have enough to focus on without worrying about the pressure of history and the record books.
“As coaches, our responsibility is to give them everything we can give them to be even greater than they already are,” said Reid. “There is enough to do just with that where you don’t even have to pay attention to the other stuff.”

Reid’s consistency allows his players to perform at their highest level. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes says that’s what sets “Big Red” apart.
“He doesn’t care if he’s playing Week 18 or Week 1, Super Bowl or preseason game, he’s the same,” Mahomes said. “He’s going to expect greatness out of you. When you leave the building, he wants you to be a better person than when you got in the building.”
Externally, the Chiefs face a lot of pressure to repeat as champions again. Internally, the team is working on the things they can control – a mentality that comes straight from the head coach.
“When people talk about a three-peat and everything like that, we’re focused on how we can be better today to prepare for the next day and it starts with him.”
