WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Update: In about 24 hours, the ICT Together fund pooled more than $100,000 in donations. The Wichita Foundation, which manages the fund, said Thursday afternoon that it was “growing by the minute.”

The foundation said the money will primarily help in three areas. First, it will assist families who lost a loved one. This could include covering travel expenses to get to Washington, D.C. It will also help more than 500 first responders helping in the recovery effort and provide mental health .

Given the crash’s widespread impact, the fund extends beyond Wichita.

“We actually have spoken to the community foundations in the greater D.C. area and we’re going to have a coordinated effort. We know many families who are impacted are traveling to D.C. now,” said Wichita Foundation President and CEO Shelly Prichard.

A community organization in Wichita is working to pool resources toward helping people impacted by Wednesday night’s deadly crash involving an American Airlines flight from Wichita and a military helicopter.

The Wichita Foundation organized “ICT Together,” an initiative “to neighbors in need.” The foundation said that 100% of contributions will go toward those affected.

On its website, the Wichita Foundation provided the following statement about “ICT Together”:

“Our hearts go out to the families of those impacted by the tragic collision of Flight 5342 from Wichita, Kansas to Washington, D.C. We offer our deepest condolences and to their families, loved ones, and all those touched in our communities by this heartbreaking event.

ICT Together is a community-led response to those affected by this evolving tragedy. Managed by the Wichita Foundation, the fund will provide aid to impacted families and local efforts, adapting to meet the community’s changing needs as we heal.”
