Chiefs lose crowd advantage headed into biggest game of the season
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A new report has found that while the Chiefs may not have the crowd advantage headed into the biggest game of the season, they didn’t have it when they faced the Eagles in the last Super Bowl either.
Vivid Seats announced on Friday, Jan. 31, that its Fan Forecast predicted the Philadelphia Eagles to have the crowd advantage at the Big Game in New Orleans on Sunday, Feb. 9. The last time the teams faced off in the Super Bowl, the Eagles saw a 62-38 crowd split.
Organization leaders noted that the data reinforces the Eagles’ road-crowd advantage this season as the Bird Gang is projected to take up 56% of the Caesars Superdome. This is the first playoff game this season that the Kansas City Chiefs are not expected to have the crowd advantage.
The report revealed tickets to the Big Game to be the third hottest in over a decade - four of which out of the top five feature the Chiefs. These are the most in-demand tickets at the Superdome in 17 years - suring even Taylor Swift’s the Eras Tour.
According to Vivid Seats, tickets to the game are 38% more in demand than the last time the pair faced off during Super Bowl LVII. On average, fans plan to travel more than 911 miles to see the biggest game of the season.
Vivid Seats noted that roundtrip airfare from Kansas City to New Orleans averages around $1,064 per ticket with hotel stays in NOLA averaging around $1,212 per stay. Demand for tickets has increased by 204% compared to the last time New Orleans hosted a Super Bowl.
