SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Several dozen Missouri State University students protested outside Carrington Hall Friday.

The protest was formed following MSU’s withdrawal from all DEI-related programs on campus.

“38% of our budget comes from the state,” MSU President Richard “Biff” Williams said. “For us to continue providing a quality education to our students, we must align with the expectations established by state leadership.”

“There’s no transparency. There’s no communication. There’s no show of ,” Leo said, a senior at MSU. “And so, as students, we’re calling for MSU to make changes.”

Protestors urged both for Williams’ resignation and for state legislators to codify laws protecting DEI resources and education. They also called for MSU to reinstate all DEI programs and policies.

“I would expect them to reach out to students or, you know, employees here and say, ‘Hey, this is what’s happening, we may have no other choice, how can we still make this an inclusive environment for you,’” McKenna said, a senior at MSU.

KY3 ed Drury University to see if DEI will remain a part of their campus. The university responded in a statement:
