1 injured Sunday night after 2 officers fired gunshots during police response: MSHP reports

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A shooting involving two police officers during a domestic disturbance call Sunday evening is under investigation.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the Kansas City Police Department responded to the 4300 block of Laurel Avenue just before 10 p.m. following a 911 call.

A release from MSHP stated that when officers arrived at a residence, a “male subject” answered the door, then left and then returned with a gun. Two officers then fired their weapons and the person went back inside the home.

The SWAT team was called and at 11:45 p.m., officers made their way into the residence, taking the person into custody.

EMS took the male to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the release stated.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol stated that it will investigate the officer shooting and that KD would investigate potential charges.
