1 person hospitalized after fire breaks out at former nursing home
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - One person was sent to the hospital with minor injuries after a vacant building fire Monday morning.
Just before 7 a.m. on Feb. 3, Kansas City firefighters responded to calls of a massive fire burning at a former nursing home off Holmes Road and 115th Street. The single-story building once housed patients but is now said to be unoccupied.
More than a dozen fire trucks arrived to large flames, making smoke visible for miles.
One person was transported to a nearby hospital for minor cuts and two unhoused people escaped the building on their own before emergency crews arrived.
There is no word yet on the cause.
