Mother, son argument leads to deadly stabbing
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A 23-year-old man is dead after he was stabbed early Tuesday morning in what police believe was an argument.
Just before 2 a.m. on Feb. 4, the Kansas City Police Department was dispatched to a home just north of Independence Avenue to the 500 block of Quincy on a reported stabbing.
When police arrived, they found the door open to a house with several people summoning them inside. There, they found a man in his twenties stabbed and bleeding out. The officers gave the man medical attention until paramedics arrived and took him to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Later, KD identified the victim as 23-year-old Darrell McKelby.
Investigators say they are treating this as a homicide that stemmed from an argument between a mother and her adult son. Police say they are considering the possibility of self-defense.
The mother is in custody and the incident remains under investigation.
