HARRISONVILLE, Mo. (KCTV) - A warrant was issued for the arrest of a Harrisonville woman after she was charged for allegedly trying to drive three children in her SUV while dangerously intoxicated.

Cass County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Monday, Feb. 3, indicate that Nickie R. Bowers, of Harrisonville, has been charged in connection to an incident over the summer during which she had been found driving three children in her vehicle while she was under the influence.

A probable cause statement filed by the Harrisonville Police Department revealed that on May 30, law enforcement officials were called to the Harrisonville City Pool with reports of an intoxicated individual in the restroom. As they arrived, a pool employee directed them toward Bowers who had been attempting to leave in a red SUV.

Investigators noted that as Bowers reversed the vehicle, a child had still been attempting to pull themself into the SUV. Out of concern for the child’s safety, Bowers was pulled over.

During the stop, law enforcement officials said they found Bowers had been shuttling 3 children, all ages 10 and under. Meanwhile, they could smell alcohol waft off Bowers and found an empty container in the driver’s door pocket.

After a series of failed field sobriety tests, Bowers was taken into custody. It was later found that she had a BAC of 0.336% - dangerously close to alcohol poisoning.

As a result, Bowers was charged on Monday with three counts of child endangerment and driving while intoxicated. If convicted, she could spend up to 60 years behind bars.

A warrant was issued for Bowers’ arrest on Monday. As of Wednesday, she does not appear to be behind bars. A hearing has not yet been set in the case and no further information has been released.
