Missouri prison employee charged for alleged sexual misconduct on the job

MARYVILLE, Mo. (KCTV) - The former employee of a Missouri prison has been charged and could face time behind bars herself after an alleged sexual interaction with an inmate.

Nodaway County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Monday, Feb. 3, indicate that Jaiden Hopkins, 22, of Hopkins, has been charged after she allegedly had a sexual interaction with a male inmate.

A probable cause statement filed by the Office of Professional Standards revealed that an investigation into an incident on May 9 found Hopkins sexually touched an inmate multiple times. At the time, she had been employed at the Maryville Treatment Center, a minimum-security prison.

Investigators noted that Hopkins itted to the crime. She has been charged with sexual conduct in the course of public duty as a result. If convicted, she could face up to 4 years in jail and be forced to pay a $10,000 fine.

As of Wednesday, Hopkins remains behind bars on a $30,000 bond. An initial arraignment was held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, with a bond review hearing expected at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
