Missouri man charged after alleged attempt to sex traffic Pennsylvania teen
BETHANY, Mo. (KCTV) - A Missouri man has been charged after he allegedly attempted to sex traffic an individual he believed to be a 15-year-old girl in Pennsylvania.
Harrison County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Wednesday, Feb. 5, indicate that Rodney W. Jackson, 65, of Bethany, has been charged in connection to the sex trafficking of a child.
A probable cause statement filed by the Bethany Police Department revealed that on Feb. 26, 2023, law enforcement officials were called to the area of Highway 136 and Miller St. with reports of a disturbance. Two men had been yelling at a third for trying to pick up a 15-year-old he met online.
When first responders arrived, they said they found the two individuals who reported they worked for a predator investigators office in Pennsylvania. The pair posed as a 15-year-old online as Jackson started a conversation.
Investigators noted that during the course of the conversation, Jackson allegedly attempted to encourage who he thought was the teen to move to Missouri from Pennsylvania.
As a result, Jackson was charged with the sexual trafficking of a child and statutory rape. A criminal summons was filed on Wednesday, however, a hearing in the case has not yet been set.
