Police identify man killed near South Kansas City businesses

An argument escalated and caused Kansas City’s latest homicide Wednesday night, according to police.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - An argument escalated and caused Kansas City’s latest homicide Wednesday night, according to police.

Officers responded to an area near Eastwood Trafficway and Ararat Drive around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5.

There they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Ambulance personnel rushed him to the hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

Investigators later realized someone had taken a second shooting victim to the hospital before officers arrived. That man, Maurice Baker, 51, died from his injuries.

Officers are still investigating exactly what happened, but say they are making headway in identifying a suspect.
