Teen charged in KC chef’s death will soon learn if he will be tried as an adult
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A Kansas City chef and restaurant owner will soon learn if he will be tried as adult for the crime.
A judge scheduled a certification hearing on Tuesday, April 8, for the teenager, according to a spokesperson for Jackson County court.
Court documents identify the teenager only as K.H., because he is under the age of 18.
Prosecutors dropped charges against a second teenager charged in connection with the case.
Brady was gunned down in the parking lot of his Brookside Brady’s KC restaurant, also referred to as Brady & Fox, in late August. Police said a preliminary investigation confirmed Brady was taking out the trash when he saw multiple people by a vehicle. Shortly after interacting with the group, he was shot.
Police said the two teenagers were arrested less than an hour after the shooting.
Officers also recovered the vehicle the teenagers were accused of using in the crime. Officers found the car in Midtown Kansas City, near the location where officers arrested the teenagers.
