NEW ORLEANS (KCTV) - Chiefs Kingdom is flocking to the streets of New Orleans as kickoff for Super Bowl LIX looms closer.

“The longer we go, the more Chiefs fans and more red we see,” Riley Underwood, a Chiefs fan from Olathe, said.

Underwood is among the thousands of people making their way through historic Jackson Square on Thursday.

“It’s awesome,” he said. “You can’t really explain it. It’s a pretty cool experience, especially in a city like this.”

“Partying with the Chiefs fans,” Renee Cote of Knob Noster, Missouri, said. “It’s been wonderful. There’s so much electricity around here.”

At any given moment, Cafe Du Monde in the French Quarter is full of Chiefs jersey-wearing fans stopping by for world-famous beignets.

“Oh my God, like 17 billion,” employee JJ. Simmons said. “It’s incredible for the city. It’s absolutely phenomenal. Somebody was here a few days ago and was like, ‘The Super Bowl should be here every year.’ And I agree.”

Fans in Jackson Square are treated to a special Super Bowl lights show projected on the St. Louis Cathedral each night. Hundreds of people line up for the show.
