LIBERTY, Mo. (KCTV) - A Liberty restaurant is on edge after an encounter with Homeland Security agents.

Video and pictures show Homeland Security agents at El Potro Mexican Restaurant in Liberty Friday morning.

The restaurant’s general manager said she arrived at work to learn the agents showed up around 10 a.m. She said agents removed 12 employees from the restaurant, right before it opened for the day.

The agents were still at the restaurant when customers arrived, including a man named Jon Costa, who shared video and pictures of what happened.

The general manager said employees told her “the employees who check out” would be returned to the restaurant, according to agents.

El Potro in Liberty remained open Friday following the raid. The general manager said the chain moved employees from other metro locations to help cover shifts.

KCTV ed the Liberty Police Department and Liberty Mayor. The police department said it was notified before the incident as a courtesy, but the department’s assistance wasn’t needed.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office said someone witnessing the raid called the office. The sheriff responded to the restaurant to investigate.

KCTV5 also ed the U.S. Marshal’s Kansas City office, Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for additional information. This article will be updated when we hear from the agencies.
