Woman suspected of drugging men, stealing money arrested in connection with death of sports reporter

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV/WVUE) - A 48-year-old woman has been arrested in connection to the death of a Kansas City reporter who was in New Orleans on assignment to cover the Super Bowl.

Telemundo KC announced on Thursday that Adan Manzano, an anchor and reporter on assignment to cover the Super Bowl, died in New Orleans.

On Friday morning, Kenner (La.) police announced officers had arrested Danette Colbert of Slidell, Lousiana, stating they discovered that she allegedly used Manzano’s credit card at several stores in the New Orleans area.

Investigators said they reviewed security footage showing Colbert with Manzano on the morning of Wednesday, Feb. 5. Investigators also said that Colbert was seen on video leaving Manzano’s hotel room later that morning.

Police said that Manzano was found unresponsive in his Kenner hotel room.

As of Friday, Colbert had only been booked for property crimes, according to police, which include fraud and theft-related offenses.

Colbert, according to police, has an arrest record that includes prior arrests related to being accused of drugging men, stealing cash, fraudulent use of credit and debit cards, and other financial-related crimes.
