Vehicles left on Kansas roadways to be towed away ahead of impending storm
KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) - Drivers in Kansas have been warned that any vehicles left on the shoulders of highways and interstates will be towed ahead of an expected winter storm.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says it has started to prepare for an impending winter storm expected to affect the Kansas City metro this next week. Due to the predicted winter weather, abandoned vehicles will be towed from the shoulders of interstates and highways.
State Troopers noted that the removal of abandoned vehicles will begin at noon on Monday, Feb. 10. Abandoned vehicles inhibit the Kansas Department of Transportation’s ability to clear snow from major roadways. Towed vehicles will help in the process of snow and ice removal.
KHP indicated that Troopers and Motorist Assist Technicians will continue to remove vehicles from Kansas roadways until KDOT has completed the snow removal process. Drivers whose vehicles have been removed can call *47 to find out where their vehicle was towed.
Troopers said all tows will be at the expense of the vehicle’s owner. No further information has been released.
