KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - KC Live! at Power and Light started off as a jam-packed party Sunday with high hopes for the Chiefs to take home the third Lombardi trophy in as many years.

As the end of the third quarter neared, only the fiercely loyal remained. The Chiefs were scoreless with 34 on the board for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Some people began walking back to their cars after the Chiefs scored their first touchdown of the game in the final minutes of the third quarter. Yet, they still said they were glad to be in the throng.

“This was my first year going to Power and Light (for the Super Bowl watch party),” said Izzy Parcells. “It was fun regardless. I think sitting at home with how this turned out would have been a lot worse than like with people, so I think it was still a good choice.”

She and Kareem Ainieh arrived at 3 p.m. to be part of the excitement. She left wrapped in a blanket. He itted to shedding a tear. It wasn’t clear if he meant literally or metaphorically. “It was like, ‘Score something. Just score something,’” said Ainieh. “And then they finally did. But we were like, it’s gonna take a miracle.”

Inside KC Live! some stayed until the better end, hoping for a miracle and at least getting to see Kansas City put more points on the board in the fourth quarter, though not nearly enough to best the birds. It was a crushing loss, but they remained positive.

“I just want to say Kansas City, one hell of a year, three Super Bowls in a row. I respect you,” said Eze Asuoha. “Philadelphia, I respect your game but I hate your guts now, especially (Eagles quarterback) Jalen Hurts. Jalen Hurts, you broke my heart bro. We’ll be back though. We’ll be back.”

“I’m hurt but at the same time, I’m proud of KC. We came a long way from what we used to be,” said another fan. “I’m very proud to be a part of Kansas City.”

His companion was equally optimistic. “We always have next year to do it again,” she said. “We can get that three-peat in three years from now.”

A few people continued dancing, stomping on plastic cups and beer cans, which were made abundantly visible with nearly everyone gone.

Even they filtered out as a cheerful housekeeping employee named Brooklyn fired up a leaf blower and began making quick work of the cleanup.
