Crime scene tape up in Kansas City neighborhood as police investigate homicide
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - One person is dead as Kansas City police investigate the city’s latest homicide.
Officers responded to a home near E. 29th Street and Walrond Avenue around 9:30 a.m. They said someone reported a gunman threatening someone else.
Police said additional calls came in from people in the neighborhood reporting a gunman running from the house.
About 30 minutes later officers located a person suffering from a gunshot injury near E. 27th and Askew. The person died from the injury at the scene.
Detectives are trying to determine if the person who died is also the gunman who ran from the home.
Police blocked off 27th Street at Bales Avenue as police investigate the crime.
Police said there is one person in custody and they are not looking for additional suspects in the crime, but detectives are working to determine what led up to the shooting.
