Lawrence fans disappointed in outcome of Super Bowl LIX
LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - Massachusetts Street is a safe haven for Chiefs fans, many are of course Jayhawks, and most were wishing for a better outcome.
Cooper Stafford watched most of the first three quarters between furrowed brows.

“I’m a little upset, I mean the three-peat you can only do that so many times,” Stafford said. “Think about it, the chance of a star QB going two-for-two, then this happens, it sucks.”
For the third year in a row, Massachusetts Street received a boost to the local economy with Chiefs fans filling the bars and restaurants, like Jefferson’s.

Thousands of wings were ordered for carry out, and of course eaten at the restaurant during the Super Bowl game between the Chiefs and Eagles, according to store manager Brynna Rowley.
“This football season we didn’t have KU playing in Lawrence, so that really kind of hurt the restaurant business as a whole, because I mean, people were just not around,” Rowley said. “It definitely makes up for it with the Chiefs games, and like being so close to Kansas City.”
One lone Eagles fan was at Jefferson’s, Arquez Morrisette.
“I was kind of worried coming out here wearing this big Michael Vick jersey, but seeing how the first quarter went, things got a little better,” Morrisette said. “This is a revenge game, yeah, for my people in Philadelphia, all my family in Philadelphia, this is our get back. And I’m happy to be here and see all these Chiefs fans looking at me right now, like, I hate this guy, and I’m okay with being the villain.”
