KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - With another storm comes more digging and shoveling.

Some people wanted to spend their day helping others take care of business while city crews worked to clear major roads.

“It’s just a neighborly thing to do,” said John Mitchell, who shoveled his driveway, then his neighbors. “Everyone is close neighbors, and we pitch in when they can.”

Isidro Martinez, who owns MTFL Landscaping said his crews are working 12-hour shifts until the snow is cleared.

“We have a lot of houses to do,” Martinez said.

KCTV5 followed his crew around as they went from house to house. If they saw a street that needed help, they’d go down it with the plow attached to the truck.

“It’s not as easy to plow snow as people think, we have to help people,” Martinez said. “Sometimes they say, hey, we need help, and if we are there, we just help right away.”

Martinez said their goal, besides cleanup, is to also lay as much salt down ahead of the predicted freezing rain.
