Air tag tracked to stolen tractor leads to charges filed against Trenton man
LIVINGSTON CO., Mo. (KCTV) - A Trenton man awaits his next hearing behind bars after an air tag affixed to a stolen tractor led law enforcement officials to his door.
Livingston County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Tuesday, Feb. 11, have revealed that Patrick M. Graves, 38, of Trenton, has been charged in connection to the theft of a tractor.
A probable cause statement filed by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office indicated that around 5:20 a.m. on Sept. 30, law enforcement officials were called to an address in a rural part of the county with reports of a theft.
When investigators arrived, they said they learned the owner of a tractor stolen from the home had affixed an air tag to it. The tracker began to ping from an address in Daviess County.
Through the investigation, the Sheriff’s Office said it found the stolen tractor had been moved to a new location in Grundy County. A search warrant for that address was granted. The stolen tractor as well as a stolen mower and rotary cutter were found.
During an interview with law enforcement officials, Graves told them he had loaned his truck to two individuals who were the actual suspects. However, a video revealed Graves to be alone at the time of the theft as he spoke on the phone to another individual about it.
As a result, Graves has been charged with burglary and stealing more than $25,000 in equipment. As of Saturday, Feb. 15, Graves remains behind bars in Caldwell County on a $20,000 bond as he awaits a 9 a.m. bond appearance hearing on Wednesday, Feb. 19.
