KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) - Around 42 snow plow drivers are working day and night to clear the roads in Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas.

Those with the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, said the plow crews finished most of the main and secondary routes by Wednesday afternoon.

They are now focusing on side streets and neighborhoods.

“They want to make sure people can get back to business as usual tomorrow, ‘cause I know a lot of schools and offices are closed today but the plan is to help everyone get back on the road and get going Thursday,” said Unified Government, Wyandotte County & Kansas City, Kansas Public Information Officer, Krystal McFeders.

The crews did not pretreat roads due to limitations caused by the extreme temperatures, said McFeders, but they continued monitoring that decision days ahead of Tuesday’s snowfall.

“With this particular snow, it‘s fluffier so as more cars drive on it - it packs down which is great,” she said, adding, “They’ve been working around the clock - one crew goes in at 3 a.m., another at 3 p.m. and they have been doing that since Sunday. This has been a brutal winter for us.”
