ATCHISON, Kan. (WIBW) - A Benedictine College student ended up in jail following a weekend prank on the Atchison campus, KAIR Radio reports.

In the incident, a 20-year-old Benedictine College student was arrested in connection with allegedly leading Atchison police to the campus for a report that turned out to be a prank.

According to a release from Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson, Lydia Fontenot, of Southlake, Texas, was arrested Saturday on the Benedictine campus in connection with transmitting false information to request emergency services.

Wilson said that shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a Benedictine College dormitory to investigate a report that someone was being chased with a knife.

The investigation into the incident led Atchison police to learn the report was false and that it was made after a prank call about the claim had been placed to a college staff person. Officials said the staff person then notified authorities, leading to the police response.

Following her arrest, Fontenot was booked into the Atchison County Jail, KAIR reported.

Fontenot wasn’t listed as being in the Atchison County Jail as of Thursday morning.

Additional details weren’t available on Thursday morning.
