Woman believed to be behind fatal Olathe shooting found in Kansas City
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A woman believed to be behind the shooting that took the life of an Independence man at an Olathe apartment complex was found and arrested in Kansas City.
The Eduardo E. Portillo, 28, of Independence, in early February.
Jackson County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Wednesday, Feb. 19, revealed that Tyson was found in Kansas City and arrested. A Missouri judge has ordered her extradition back to Johnson County, Kansas, to face a single charge of homicide.
The Olathe Police Department noted that law enforcement officials were called to the Wingfield Apartments around 10:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4, with reports of a shooting. When first responders arrived, they found Portillo suffering an apparent gunshot wound.
Investigators indicated that Portillo was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries. Formal homicide charges are expected to be filed in Kansas.
As of Thursday afternoon, Tyson remains behind Jackson County bars with no bond listed as she awaits transport back to Kansas. No further information has been released.
