WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (KCTV) - Shoppers at Hy-Vee will get a chance to help feed hungry children across the Midwest this March through a partnership with the Caitlin Clark Foundation.

Hy-Vee has announced that a new partnership with the Caitlin Clark Foundation is set to childhood nutrition as the pair raise funds for local food banks across the Midwest this March.

According to Hy-Vee, the Clark Foundation is expected to host a Round Up between March 1 and 31 at all stores including Dollar Fresh Markets and Fast & Fresh locations. Customers can round their purchases up to the nearest dollar during checkout to the effort.

Hy-Vee noted that all proceeds will go to the Clark Foundation which will then work with local Feeding America partner food banks, including Harvesters - The Community Food Network in Kansas City.

Company leaders indicated that childhood hunger has reached a crucial level nationwide. The issue is of importance to the Clark Foundation as well.

“Nutrition is very important to children’s growth and well-being and has been instrumental to my success as an athlete,” said Caitlin Clark. “By providing meals to families who are food insecure, we can help make sure each child has the energy they need to succeed.”

Hy-Vee said that in the U.S., 1 in 5 children faces hunger - more than 575,000 children across the Midwest are considered food insecure. Studies show that a lack of adequate nutrition can affect a child’s health and put their growth and mental health at risk.

The Clark Foundation noted that its mission is ti uplift and improve the lives of youth and communities through education, nutrition and sports. Nutrition is the key pillar, a fundamental for children to excel in education and sports. With proper nutrition, youth can thrive.

“Hy-Vee was the first company to sponsor Caitlin Clark in 2021 under her first NIL deal. We have been honored to be an integral partner throughout her basketball career,” said Matt Nickell, Vice President of Sports Marketing at Hy-Vee. “This round-up is just one more way we can partner together with our shared belief that feeding and ing kids today will build stronger communities tomorrow.”
