Serious crash on Missouri highway leaves 6 injured, 4 killed

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a two-car crash on Friday that left one man and three young women dead.

According to a report, the crash happened at 8 p.m. on Feb. 21 on U.S. 54 Highway in Vernon County, Missouri.

MSHP said a man in a 2025 Toyota Corolla was driving south on County Road C when he failed to stop at a stop sign and was hit by a 2015 GMC Terrain driving east on U.S. 54 Highway. The Toyota went off the side of the road and hit a tree.

  • The 49-year-old male driver from Camdenton, Missouri, was seriously injured and taken to a hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
  • A 38-year-old female enger from Camdenton, Missouri, was seriously injured and airlifted to a hospital in Springfield, Missouri.
  • An 18-year-old female enger was pronounced dead at 10:47 p.m.
  • A 19-year-old female enger was pronounced dead at 10:47 p.m.
  • A 21-year-old female enger was pronounced dead at 10:47 p.m.

The 18-year-old and 21-year-old were reportedly not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. The 18-year-old was from Springfield, Missouri, and the 19-year-old was from Climax Springs, Missouri. The rest of the Toyota’s occupants were from Camdenton, Missouri.

  • The 38-year-old male driver was pronounced dead at 10:47 p.m.
  • A 39-year-old female enger was seriously injured and airlifted to a hospital in Springfield, Missouri.
  • A 16-year-old female enger with minor injuries was taken to a hospital in Nevada, Missouri.
  • A second 16-year-old female enger with minor injuries was taken to a hospital in Nevada, Missouri.
  • An 18-year-old female enger with moderate injuries was taken to a hospital in Nevada, Missouri.

Only one of the 16-year-old teenagers was wearing a seatbelt, MSHP reported. All five occupants are from Osceola, Missouri.

MSHP does not release the identities of those involved in crashes.
