KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A driver and enger in a vehicle that attempted to evade a police stop were hospitalized Wednesday in Kansas City.

The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department said an officer attempted to stop a driver for a traffic violation in the area of 58th Street and Olive.

KD said the driver of a Dodge Avenger refused to stop and drove off at a high rate of speed, heading northbound on Olive. Eventually, the car crashed at 5430 Olive when the vehicle went off the road to the left and struck a large tree.

The driver and enger, who were both not wearing seatbelts, were both hospitalized. Police said neither is believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries.

The crash occurred just before 3 p.m.

An investigation remains ongoing and both are in stable condition, KD said.
