KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The number of elementary school students who may have been assaulted by a former speech therapist increased from two to eight, according to investigators.

The investigation into Mark Gridley, 60, began on Feb. 8 when a parent called police. Since then investigators said they’ve uncovered more alleged victims.

Police said all of the incidents allegedly happened at Prairie Park Elementary School over a two-day period from Feb. 6 to Feb. 7. The alleged victims are between six and 11 years old, according to investigators.

Gridley is charged with one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child under the age of 14 and one count of kidnapping.

An affidavit released in the case said a parent told police his child reported some disturbing details, including claims that Gridley placed bandages over his eyes during a therapy session.

The remainder of what allegedly happened is outlined in the redacted affidavit below.

The Douglas County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the new information provided by the Lawrence Police Department to determine if Gridley will face additional charges.

Investigators also credited employees at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Douglas County for their help interviewing children and also providing services.
