Boy & woman killed, Amber Alert suspect dead after night of terror through Riverside, KCK
RIVERSIDE, Mo. (KCTV) - A night of terror in Riverside ended Friday morning with an Amber Alert suspect and two victims dead, and another woman injured.
The Platte County Sheriff’s Office said 43-year-old George Manning was shot and killed by police just after 7:30 a.m.
Manning was the suspect of a series of events that included a double homicide and child abduction that started at 11:15 p.m. Thursday.
Police said the first homicide occurred in Riverside, Missouri, near the intersection of Vivion Road and NW High Drive in the parking lot of a car wash. There, Manning shot a woman and killed her, taking her vehicle from the scene.
After shooting and killing an unrelated woman at the car wash, Manning went to a home in the 4400 block of NW 50th Street and killed a boy and shot a second woman, seriously injuring her. Police said the woman was hospitalized. Manning then took a 5-year-old girl from the home, starting an Amber Alert.
“We believe this is the mother of both the deceased juvenile and the 5-year-old that was abducted,” Platte County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Jeffrey Shanks said.
Kansas City, Kansas Police said Manning was on N. 13th Street in Kansas City, Kansas. KCKPD received a 911 call to the bar just before midnight with reports that shots had been fired. When officers arrived at the bar, they confirmed a non-injury aggravated assault had taken place.
Witnesses at the KCK bar said the suspect, matching the description of Manning, left the bar on foot. A few blocks away, a carjacking was reported near N. 11th and Rowland Avenue minutes later.

It’s unclear exactly when the 5-year-old girl was returned to her family, but at approximately 5:10 a.m., the girl was located and was safe. Authorities said she was unharmed in the incident.
Manning eventually returned to Platte County, Missouri, in a stolen vehicle. He was located on Vivion Road near the intersection of Waukomis Drive at approximately 7:30 a.m. on foot. There, he was shot in a police shooting and declared dead at the scene.
“I was just working, doing my thing this morning and all of a sudden I heard like 50 shots go off,” said Chuck Nord, a witness near the scene where Manning was killed. “So I ran outside and saw guns ablaze. They got some dude down on the ground and it looked like they got him. It was crazy.”
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the officer-involved shooting is under investigation. The Kansas City, Kansas Police Department is investigating the alleged crimes committed in Kansas City, Kansas. The Platte County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the two homicides and child abduction that occurred in Riverside.
