Lenexa police say no further investigation for suspects in double shooting that killed a woman

LENEXA, Kan. (KCTV) - The Lenexa Police Department said they are no longer pursuing any suspects in a double shooting that took place Wednesday night.

Police said 22-year-old Sadie “Cayden” Riedel has been identified as the victim killed in the shooting while a man remains hospitalized. Lenexa Police said the man is in serious condition as a result of a gunshot wound to the head.

“The male and female were known to one another and resided together at the involved apartment,” police said in an update Friday morning. “Currently, we are not looking for any other involved persons.”

The shooting happened Wednesday, Feb. 26, in the 7600 block of Halsey Street at The Meadows Apartment Homes. Police were dispatched to the area at 4 p.m.

In the preliminary stage of the investigation, police said there was no evidence to suggest an outstanding suspect. Now, they’ve confirmed that belief as the investigation continues.

Lenexa Police said an investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
