Beloved Waldo breakfast spot break in
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Waldo Cafe knows all about breakfast – one of their specialties being cinnamon rolls, and because they have to get up early to make them, that may be the reason they are recovering from vandalism instead of also a robbery.
Henri Ewell owns the restaurant with David Hollins, and this morning’s break-in is the second time their side door has been targeted.
“Just after our kitchen staff started to open the restaurant, some folks decided that they wanted to break our door and try and break into the restaurant,” Ewell said. “That’s the real silver lining is that nobody did get hurt, everybody was safe.”

As a result, the criminals weren’t able to steal anything; the employees cleaned up the glass, boarded up the door and began serving up meals to hungry customers.
“Apparently three or four other businesses were impacted this morning as well,” Ewell said. “Keep an eye out for your neighbors, be a little bit more vigilant. Just make sure your doors are locked, your windows locked, your cars locked, everything of value is put up and secure.”
