Community mourns loss of Grandview Firefighter of 24 years after battle with cancer

GRANDVIEW, Mo. (KCTV) - The community is mourning the loss of a Grandview firefighter who spent the last 24 years serving them after his battle with cancer.

The Grandview Fire Department announced on Wednesday, March 5, that Curt Parker ed away at his home on Friday, Feb. 28, after a long battle with cancer. He served the city for 24 years.

“Curt was a dedicated public servant and a caring family man who always prioritized the well-being of those around him,” said Grandview Fire Chief Rodney Baldwin. “He treated everyone at the Grandview Fire Department like family. This helped create a strong sense of community in the department.”

Department leaders noted that they will Parker’s family to honor his life and years of service at a memorial at 11 a.m. on March 13. The service is to be held at Abundant Life Church, 304 Persels Rd. in Lee’s Summit. A funeral procession will through Grandview following the service.

“Curt made a positive impact on his colleagues. Every morning, he arrived at the station with a bright smile and contagious enthusiasm that lifted everyone’s spirits,” Chief Baldwin continued. “He made people feel valued and appreciated by helping with tough tasks or sharing timely jokes to lighten the mood. His dedication to building relationships strengthened his team and created an environment where camaraderie thrived and everyone felt ed.”
