Employee injured as fire destroys longtime Kansas City business

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) - Fire destroyed a business that’s been in Kansas City for years.

Kansas City firefighters responded to a fire at Boulevard Tire and Service around 10:30 a.m. The longtime Kansas City, Kan., business is located at Lincoln Street and Southwest Boulevard.

Firefighters were greeted with thick smoke and fire when the arrived. They also heard explosions from inside the service shop, according to the department. They also found an employee suffering from minor burns.

Firefighters fought the fire from the outside because of the intensity of the flames, according to the department. They were able to get the fire under control in about 30 minutes.

Emergency crews were able to contain the fire to the building. The flames did not spread to any other structures.

The fire department said the fire destroyed the business. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
