MARYVILLE, Mo. (KCTV) - Two people were seriously injured early Sunday morning in a head-on crash, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

According to a crash report, around 4:15 a.m. on March 9, two men from Maryville, Missouri, were driving in opposite directions on MO-46.

The first man, a 31-year-old driving a 2017 Ford F150 in the eastbound lanes, crossed the center line of the two-lane road. The 24-year-old driving westbound in a 2003 Dodge 1500 swerved to avoid the Ford but was hit head-on.

The impact sent the Ford partially off the road, blocking the westbound lane. The Dodge went off the north side of the road and came to a stop facing west.

MSHP said the 24-year-old was not wearing a seatbelt while the 31-year-old was, but both sustained serious injuries. The younger man was airlifted to a hospital in Omaha while the other was taken to a hospital in St. Joseph via ambulance.

Both cars were reportedly totaled in the crash.
