KHP catches teen driver going 110 mph because they were ‘late for curfew’

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Kansas Highway Patrol is once again sharing photos of drivers caught going over 100 miles per hour.
KHP said a trooper pulled over a teenager going 110 mph on Saturday night. The 17-year-old driver told the trooper they were running late and trying to make it home before curfew.
When you’re 17 and trying to make it home before curfew and you’re running late, call your parents and explain, they would rather you make it home safe!

The patrol shared this image on social media, urging teen drivers to call their parents and explain instead of speed because they would rather you and everyone else on the road make it home safely.
Another trooper pulled over a driver on K-96 going 109 mph - 44 mph over the speed limit.
KHP is continuing to push lawmakers to legislation to increase the penalties for speeding, as triple-digit speeders continue to be a problem in Kansas.
Over the last four years, Kansas deputies have issued more than 10,000 tickets for speeders caught going over 100 mph.
