Motorcycle driver seriously injured after crash with SUV in Independence
INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) - A motorcycle driver was seriously injured after he crashed into an SUV along Noland Rd. in Independence over the weekend.
The Independence, Missouri, Police Department says that around 7:10 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, emergency crews were called to the area of 37th and Noland Rd. with reports of a 2-vehicle collision.
When first responders arrived, they said they found the driver of a Yamaha motorcycle had been headed north on Noland Rd. as the driver reportedly rode in a careless manner.
Investigators noted that as the driver of a Hyundai Kona attempted to pull out of a parking lot at 3701 S. Noland Rd., the motorcycle struck the SUV’s driver’s side.
Law enforcement officials indicated that the motorcycle’s driver was seriously injured and taken to a nearby hospital as a result. The driver of the Hyundai, who was uninjured, remained on scene and has been cooperative with the investigation.
First responders noted that the driver had not been wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Noland Rd. had been shut down for about an hour as law enforcement officials investigated the crash.
