CARROLL CO., Mo. (KCTV) - One driver was airlifted to a Kansas City hospital after a head-on collision with a pickup truck along a rural Missouri roadway.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol indicates that around 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, emergency crews were called to the area of U.S. 65 Highway and County Road 350, north of Waverly, with reports of a head-on collision.

When first responders arrived, they said they found a 29-year-old Carrollton woman had been driving a white 2017 Ford Fusion south on the highway when she drifted across the centerline.

Law enforcement officials noted that the Fusion collided head-on with a black, northbound 2012 Dodge Ram driven by a 58-year-old Carrolton man.

State Troopers said the female driver was airlifted to Centerpoint Medical Center with suspected serious injuries. It remains unknown if she was wearing a seatbelt at the time. The male driver escaped the crash without injury. He was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the incident.

Investigators indicated that the Ford sustained moderate damage in the crash while the pickup was totaled. No further information has been released.
