Bobby Witt Jr. exits Spring Training game with left forearm contusion after being hit by pitch
PEORIA, Ariz. (KCTV) - Superstar Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. exited Wednesday’s Spring Training game after being hit on the left forearm by a pitch.
The hit-by-pitch came in the top of the fifth inning of a game between the Royals and Seattle Mariners. Witt Jr. was immediately pinch-ran for in the game.
The Royals said Witt Jr. underwent further evaluation. X-rays were negative for a fracture, leaving the Royals star with a left forearm contusion. The club said he’ll be reevaluated Thursday morning.
Witt Jr. had a .276 batting average and 2 home runs in 29 at-bats in Spring Training so far in 2025.
The 24-year-old shortstop produced back-to-back 30 home run, 30 stolen base seasons for Kansas City in 2023 and 2024.
Oddsmakers have Witt Jr. as the preseason favorite to win AL MVP, and any long-term absence for the superstar would be a significant blow to Kansas City’s playoff hopes in the 2025 season.
