‘Struggling to keep up’: Crossroads business says it’s been broken into 3 times in 6 months
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - One time was already too many, but a Kansas City business says it’s been broken into three times within the last six months and it’s “struggling to keep up.”
Druid Dice Tabletop Gaming was founded in 2019 “from my ion for tabletop gaming, 3D modeling, and printing,” owner Alex Ward wrote on his business’s website. The storefront is located on Main Street, near Kansas City’s Freight House building.
According to a post on Druid Dice’s social media s, on March 11, their “front door was smashed in” and “valuable equipment was stolen,” which was the third such incident in six months.
Waterbird Coffee Co. and Velo Garage and Tap House — located in downtown Kansas City and the Northland, respectively — were also broken into, the businesses confirmed on their social media s.
“Awesome! Way to go KC,” Waterbird Coffee said, tagging Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas who commented the following response:
“Very sorry to see this. I’ll ask @kcmopolice to ensure they share this incident’s details with the prosecutor’s office. Monday, the county prosecutor started a new property crimes division to catch and try offenders doing this very sort of thing. From the City, please reach out to KC BizCare to provide as your business covers costs of repair. 311 works for all of us or we can send folks to you if you prefer. Very sorry again.”
Velo Garage and Tap House posted their own photos on Instagram, stating “If anyone sees an a----- running around NKC in sliders and a hoody carrying an empty till let us know.”

Druid Dice shared a video of the break-in and asked for the public’s help in identifying the people involved.
“This is becoming an all-too-common pattern in our community, and small businesses like ours are struggling to keep up with the damage,” Druid Dice continued.

KCTV5 reached out to the Kansas City Police Department for additional information on the break-ins but did not immediately hear back.
