Bicyclist critically injured in Independence hit-and-run crash

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) - A bicyclist suffered critical injuries in a hit-and-run crash in Independence.
Emergency crews responded to the crash at 23rd Street and Lee’s Summit Road shortly before 9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12.
Police said a Ford Focus hit the bicyclist and drove away from the area. The driver of the car later ed dispatchers about the crash, according to investigators.
The cyclist remains hospitalized with critical injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
