KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - With just over a year remaining before the World Cup arrives in Kansas City, city leaders are trying to find community partners and artists for a citywide mural initiative.

The Kansas City Mural Program aims to reimagine public spaces “as vibrant canvasses for art, culture and community connection,” the city announced Thursday. So far, the program has produced 40 murals throughout the city with a goal of reaching 100 pieces of art before the World Cup in 2026.

City officials said in 2025 its seeking:

  • Property owners to nominate wall locations for murals
  • Local and international muralists to apply to be an artist
  • Community to assist with logistics
  • Donations to find murals and festival programming

The mural scene across the city can be explored with a Google Maps mural tour. That tour, and information about volunteering, donating or nominating walls can be found here.

The project is the work of partnerships with SpraySeeMO, Spray KC and city departments, officials said.
