ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A St. Louis jury found a man guilty of shooting his son’s football coach.

Daryl B. Clemmons, 45, was found guilty of assault and armed criminal action. He was sentenced to 10 years for first-degree assault and a consecutive three-year term for armed criminal action.

Prosecutors said Clemmons shot Shaquille Latimore during an argument over the amount of time his son had been getting. Latimore was a volunteer coach for the City Rec Legends Football League.

Court documents state Clemmons and Latimore both had guns during the argument, with Latimore handing his to a friend and telling Clemmons they should fight with fists. Clemmons then shot Latimore five times.

Clemmons later turned himself into the police.

The shooting happened near a practice field in Sherman Park on Oct. 10, 2023. At the time, children were playing nearby.
