Kansas City St. Patrick’s Day Parade honors chef Shaun Brady months after death
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - An Irish tradition during Kansas City’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade honored a chef who called the metro home.
Shaun Brady was killed in late August when he confronted a group of people in the parking lot of his Brady’s KC restaurant in Brookside. Police said Brady was taking out the trash when he saw multiple people by a vehicle. Shortly after interacting with the group, he was shot.

Now months later, people who knew Brady spent St. Patrick’s Day ing the 44-year-old chef, known for his love of all things Irish.

A riderless horse led the St. Patrick’s Day Parade along the route in Brady’s honor. The St. Andrews Pipe and Drum Corp followed the horse and played as a tribute to Brady.
In addition to food and his Irish heritage, those who knew Brady said he also loved music. He was even known to have bagpipers play in his restaurant.
“Want to film it for Shaun’s mother and his sisters and his brothers in Ireland. They’re so far away and they’re still devastated by the loss of Shaun, as we all are. They can’t believe he was so well-loved in Kansas City, because they were 4,000 miles away. This reminding him today is really important,” Ed O’Neill, Brady’s friend, said.
The community also honored Brady during Irish Fest last year. The annual festival took place just days after he was killed.
Prosecutors originally charged two teenagers in Brady’s death.
second teenager identified as K.H. remains charged in Brady’s homicide.
K.H is scheduled to be in court for a detention hearing on April 2.
