Kansas Senate sends pair of election reform bills to Governor
TOPEKA, Kan. (KCTV) - The Kansas Senate sent a pair of election reform bills to Governor Laura Kelly on Monday.
SB 5 would ban election officials from accepting funds except via appropriations or when approved by law. SB 6 would ban ranked-choice voting from being used in Kansas.
Those bills SB 4, which requires all ballots be turned in by 7 p.m. on Election Day, as three election reform bills sitting on Kelly’s desk.
Both SB 5 and SB 6 ed with veto-proof majorities in both chambers.
“Over the past several years, Kansas Republicans have taken several commonsense steps to ensure that our elections are safe and secure,” said Senate President Ty Masterson. “And these three bills further accomplish that goal. I encourage the governor to sign all three and us in making our election laws a model for the nation.”
