Police rule out intoxication after driver ‘blacked out,’ drove into side of apartment
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (KCTV) - The Overland Park Police Department confirmed Tuesday that they do not believe alcohol played a part in a crash that damaged an apartment building.
On March 17, crews were called to the Residences at Prairiefire after a car drove into the side of one of its buildings, leaving a sizeable hole.
Officers reportedly determined the driver “blacked out” after turning off W. 135th Street, and then hit the building. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries and further medical testing.
OPPD said they do not believe alcohol was involved in the incident.
Evergy and the Overland Park Building Safety Inspector responded to the scene while apartment management helped the residents who were displaced.
