KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A 39-year-old man was sentenced in federal court after he was convicted of illegally possessing firearms and ammunition.

Mario Alberto Hernandez-Lugo, 39, pleaded guilty in August 2024 to being an illegal alien in possession of a firearm and ammunition, federal prosecutors stated.

Hernandez-Lugo had itted he was in the United States without legal status and had been previously deported or removed from the country seven times.

He was arrested in May 2023, residing in Kansas City, Missouri. After his arrest, Hernandez-Lugo itted he was in possession of a Beretta, 9mm pistol, and .45 caliber and 9mm ammunition.

He was sentenced to six years in federal prison without parole.
